Fresh Eggs
Fresh Eggs

Upside Of Down is in the egg business!  We live on a small farm-like property and are using this opportunity to teach our daughter some business skills.

Presley will be collecting, packaging and selling farm fresh eggs from our own flock to our local friends and neighbors.

About our flock

Our flock of hens free range from sun-up to sun-down and are fed high quality, non-GMO and soy-free chicken feed by H&H.

Our flock currently consists of the following breeds:

  • Rhode Island Red
  • Buff Orpington
  • Brahma
  • Americana
  • Ideal 236
  • Black Australorp
  • Dominicker
About our flock
I have fresh eggs, now what???
I have fresh eggs, now what???

  • We do not wash the eggs in order to preserve the protective "bloom" on them.  The bloom protects the eggs from bacteria getting inside the shell and reduces moisture loss from the egg, keeping it fresher, longer. They can be left out and should be washed in hot water prior to use. We leave ours out for a few weeks, but I personally choose not to leave out longer than that.

  • If you choose to wash your eggs right away, do so in hot water and then they must be refrigerated.  Washing the eggs removes the protective bloom and therefore, they must be refrigerated to keep them healthy and safe for eating.

Note that we are a very small operation and only have 12 hens so may not always have the supply to meet the demand. Due to the already high demand, we are only promoting the sale of our eggs to local groups.

Thank you for your support!!
